My foundry in WI is classifing it as a journeyman molder. His specific duties would include the making of the actual molds themselves to the core to go in them (whether they be no-bake, shell, or SO2 core) or fitting and pasting core together and mudding them and gauging them for areas that can not be sawed or sanded.
I did it the easy way. I bought a BRASS compression coupling (Plumbing supply House) , Plastic won't take the tightening required for a pressure seal. I just hack sawed off the "tee" part and connected the 2 straight sections with the Brass coupler. I have replaced my Well Saver LPT20 twice over the years with this technique. They tend to rust out underneath at the weld after several years.
