Pitting potential is the potential where the pitting start and this is noticed when the current is suddenly increased that also mean below this value, now pitting corrosion will initiate

Many parameters can effluence the pitting potential such as Temperature, halides ions, surface finishing of the alloy and also state of the electrolyte , is it flowing or stagnant.

What is pitting in engineering?

Pitting is when there are small holes starting to appear in steel often caused by corrosion/rust

Why pitting is dangerous?

In a boiler, pitting is dangerous because it weakens the boiler plate by reducing its thickness and strength. A pit that reduces the boiler plate thickness (at its weakest point) to 1/4 of the original thickness will fail at its Maximum Allowable Working Pressure. The weakest point is typically at the longitudinal joint (welded or riveted boilers) and pitting, grooving and cracking at this joint is closely monitored in all boilers.

What are the dis advantages of turbo generators?

they are quite a maintenance problem lots of pitting and cavitation on the blades low speed turbines ( water wheels ) are easier to get to and dont have near the problem and are easily inspected

Does salt erode concrete?

Yes, it may take several years until it is noticeable depending on how much and how often it is used. If you notice pitting or sparring that is the first signs of damage. There are alternatives to salt for walkways and driveways that are "safe for concrete surfaces" but you will pay a premium for these products.

How surface treatment influences fatigue?

Surface treatment affects the endurance strength, which is used to calculate the safety factor. Surface fatigue inevitably occurs for all materials in high contact-stress applications, causing part failure after thousands of repeated cycles. Failure is evidenced by pitting and eventually spalling.

What is nonpitting edema?

Non-pitting edema is a type of swelling. Pitting edema occurs when the swollen area is pressed and remains indented. The indentation does not occur with non-pitting edema.

What causes destructive gear pitting?

Can you call the corrosion of all metals as rusting?

No. Rust (iron oxide) only occurs in metals containing iron. A couple examples of different types of corrosion are galvanic corrosion and chloride pitting corrosion.

What are some examples of corrosion?

Iron and steel rusting is an example of corrosion. Copper pitting or the green patina one sees on copper roofs are also examples of corrosion. Stress Cracking is also considered an example of corrosion.

How is pitting corrosion form in pump?

cavitation is the reason

Can pneumonia cause pitting edema in legs?

yes

Do you grade non-pitting edema?

Pitting edema is edema severe enough to leave a dent when pressed with a finger. Pitting edema is assessed by pushing gently with a finger and evaluating the response. Mild is a one plus, moderate is a two plus, deep is a three plus, and very deep is a four plus.
