in the negative biasing it gives the constant voltage irrespective of limited current.......the voltage it provides in the negative biasing is known as 'zener voltage' due to this property zener voltage is used as voltage regulator........voltage regulator is a circuit which gives constant output even the input is changing.

What is an Esaki diode?

A diode is a semiconductor electrical component that allows an electric current in only one direction. A tunnel diode, or Esaki diode, is a special type of diode that can operate very quickly using quantum tunneling, allowing it to work even with microwave frequencies (current switching direction billions of times per second).

What is Another name for pn junction?

I cannot think of any, but a pn junction is a part of a diode and has a rectifying properties.

What is a diode check setting used for on a dvom?

The Diode Check setting on a DVOM is a special ohms setting that presents enough voltage to the tested device to conduct, if it were a diode. Old style VOM's did not have this problem, because they usually used a battery greater than 0.7 volts to run the ohm's scale. Modern DVOM's, however, can use very small voltages to measure ohms, and that would not cause a diode to conduct. The Diode Check setting fixes this limitation.

Difference between gunn diode and pin diode?

gunn diode is transfered electron device & PIN diode is semiconductor device

Why diode rectifiers are called as uncontrolled rectifiers?

Diode rectifiers are called uncontrolled rectifiers because they rely on the natural conduction properties of diodes, which allow current to flow only in one direction without any external control mechanism. Once the input voltage exceeds the diode's forward voltage threshold, the diode conducts and rectifies the AC signal into DC. This behavior is inherently passive, as the diode does not require any active components or control signals to operate, making it "uncontrolled" compared to other rectification methods, such as those using thyristors or transistors.

Can schottky diode charge storage?

A schottky diode has non ideal properties. Among them is a capacitance (e. g. 900pF), which delays switching in case of a polarity reversal.

What are special purpose diodes?

Special diode does special function. Diodes are originally used to rectify ac current into dc current . Other versions of diodes are constructed in a similar way using the same principles but their function is not rectification such as light emmision diode

Why UJT's equivalent circuit has a diode?

A UJT is a special type of diode with a long resistive base having 2 contacts and acting as a voltage divider. The diode junction is created at a point on this base selected to set the trigger voltage of the UJT at which it will conduct. Therefore the equivalent circuit has a diode because the actual circuit has a diode.

What is blocking diode?

any diode if connected to where the anode is tie to a negative potential will block that voltage. Up to the limit of the breakdown potential of the diode whereby avalanche current will destroy the diode unless current limited

What is a special quality of zener diode?

it can work in reverse bias unlike other diodes

What is the definition of special properties?

The definition of special properties are the unique features of a substance. They are commonly derived from other intrinsic and extrinsic properties.

What are the properties of special properties?

Special properties are unique characteristics or attributes that set something apart from others. They can include rarity, exceptional quality, specific functions, and distinctive features that make the item or object stand out. Special properties often contribute to the value or significance of the item in question.

What are some properties of germanium?
