See figure 1 for reference. Drill this hole with a 1/8" drill bit. Stop when the bit goes through the first layer of metal. Re-drill the hole using a 1/4" drill bit. If it does not, use a screwdriver through the 1/4" hole to release the latch. Simply turning and moving a flat screwdriver tip inside the 1/4" hole will usually release the latch. If all else fails, drill this hole larger and try again to hit the release.

PUT 1 BAR OF A COAT HANGER THRU THE HOLE UNTIL IT IS SEEN FROM THE BOTTOM. TIE A LONG STRING AROUND THE PART OF THE COAT HANGER THAT IS IN THE CAR. PULL THE HANGER OUT FROMT HE TOP. MAKE SURE TO LEAVE STRING IN THE CAB OF THE CAR. TIE THE END OF THE NEW CABLE (DEALER PART ONLY, ABOUT $35)TO THE STRING. PULL THE STING FROM THE TOP. YOU WILL SEE THE CABLE COME THRU. FOLLOW THE PATH OF THE OLD CABLE TO THE LATCH. DICONNECT FROM THE LATCH AND REPLACE WITH THE NEW CABLE. RECONNECT THE LATCH INSIDE OF THE CAR TO THE PLASTIC
