Read less than 1 ohm
To measure resistance, and to check continuity.
A: CONTINUITY check is not used to ascertain ohms value but rather the connections
ANY METER needs some kind of current flow to operate. Internal in the meter there are batteries that provide current that when passed trough a resistor will develop voltage as a function of the current. the meter will read this current and display the resistor size to cause this current to flow.
You use an ohm meter to check for continuty, low ohm reading, on the center pin between the two ends of the cable. You would then check for continuity between the shield, or outside connector. If both of those are good, you should also check between one of the center pins and the shield to ensure their isn't a short on the cable.
To test the continuity of steel wire armoured (SWA) cable, a continuity tester or multimeter is used to check for a complete electrical path. The outer steel armor is connected to the earth, while the inner conductors are tested individually to ensure they are properly connected and have no breaks. The resistance should be low, indicating good continuity. Additionally, the test should confirm that there is no short circuit between conductors or between conductors and the armor.
To measure resistance, and to check continuity.
An ohmmeter is used to check continuity and resistance. An unfavorable use would be to connect the meter to any power. Unless the meter has a safety feature, connecting it to any type of power will damage the meter.
You can use a ohmmeter, assuming the ohmmeter presents more than 0.7 volts in the open circuit state. If you know which pin is the base, put the plus lead on it and check the emitter and collector. If you have continuity, the device is NPN. If not, reverse the leads, and if you now have continuity, the device is PNP.If you don't know which lead is the base, or you want a general go/nogo check of the transistor, connect the ohmmeter in all nine configurations. You should find continuity in only two configurations. Of these two configurations, if the common lead is the plus lead, the device is NPN, otherwise it is PNP. This will also identify the base. (Unfortunately, you cannot identify the collector or emitter using this technique.)
An advantage of a continuity tester is that it provides a quick and straightforward way to check if a circuit is complete by producing a sound or light signal, making it user-friendly for basic checks. A disadvantage, however, is that it typically only indicates whether there is continuity without providing quantitative resistance measurements, which an ohmmeter can do. This limits the continuity tester's ability to diagnose issues related to resistance levels in a circuit.
To check an ignition coil with an ohmmeter, first disconnect the coil from the vehicle’s electrical system. Set the ohmmeter to the resistance (ohm) setting, then measure the resistance between the primary terminals of the coil; it should typically be between 0.5 to 2 ohms. Next, measure the resistance between the secondary terminal and one of the primary terminals, which should be in the range of several thousand ohms (often 6,000 to 15,000 ohms). If the readings are outside these ranges, the coil may be faulty and should be replaced.
Oil Pressure Sensor Testing 1. Test and verify the engine oil pressure. If no or insufficient pressure exits, oil pressure problem exits and gauge and sensor are operational, repair oil pressure problem. 2. Check the appropriate fuse before attempting any other diagnostics. 3. Unplug the sensor electrical hardness. 4. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between the sensor terminals. 5. With the engine stopped, continuity should not exist. Ø The switch inside the oil pressure sensor opens at (6) psi or less of pressure. 6. With the engine running, continuity should exist. 7. If continuity does not exist as stated, the sensor is faulty.

With an ohm-meter. Check for continuity in the RUN and START windings, and also from the terminals to compressor case for shorting. There should be continuity in the windings and no continuity from windings to compressor case.
