Guru Granth Sahib also known as Adi Granth is the holy scripture of the Sikhs. Guru Arjan Dev (the fifth Sikh guru) first compiled the Adi Granth ... from hymns of the first five Sikh gurus and other great saints, or bhagats, including those of the Hindu and Muslim faith. The Tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh affirmed the Guru Granth Sahib as his successor, regarded as the teachings of the Ten Gurus.
Adi Granth (or Aad Granth, literally "the first book") is the early compilation of the Sikh Scriptures by Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, in 1604. Bhai Gurdas ji accomplished the task of writing the Adi Granth while Guru Arjan dev ji narrated it.
