Measuring capacitance means that we are checking the change to the physical parameters of the transformer. i.e. C=AxDielectric constant/4xdxPie (All these variables are physical parameters) by measuring capacitance we can see the quality or change to the insulation of TR winding.

Measuring Dissipation factor means to check the level of contamination and moisture in the insulation ,by def. its a measure of loss rate of energy , in transformer whats that means is the amount of resistive portion of the current in the insulation (Ir). definately if there is no contamination and moisture the surface leakage is purely capacitive.

What are applications of schering bridge?

A Schering Bridge is a bridge circuit used for measuring an unknown electrical capacitance and its dissipation factor.

What kind of supply is given to schering's bridge?

schering's bridge is used to measure capacitance and dissipation factor of a capacitor. AC voltage is given to the terminals of bridge and bridge is balanced by varying resistance and capacitance in the opposite arm.

How is power factor improved in fluorescent lamps?

the old ones with transformers you can correct with capacitors incandescent lamps have unity power factor the newer florescent ballasts are closer to unity but tend more towards capacitance

What is dissipation factor?

Dissipation factor, also known as tan Delta, is a measure of energy lost in a dielectric material when subjected to an alternating electric field. It quantifies the energy dissipated as heat rather than stored as electrical energy. A high dissipation factor indicates higher energy losses and poorer efficiency of the material as a capacitor.

Power factor is least in capacitance or resistance or inductance?

inductance

Doubling the plate area of a capacitor will?

increase the capacitance of the capacitor by a factor of two. This is because capacitance is directly proportional to the area of the plates.

What happens to an inductive circuit when capacitance is added for power factor correction?

The capacitance counter acts the inductivity (decreases it) without impacting the resistivivity, thus increasing the power factor, or resistivity / inductivity ratio.

What will be the effect on ripple factor if the value of capacitor is reduced?

Ripples will increase if capacitance is decreased.

What is the effect of capacitance at high frequencies?

A: Is the same as low frequency except it becomes a predominant factor.
