One trace of the oscilloscope traces have to be inverted to display the voltage and current with the correct phase relationship because you are probably connecting to both sides of a small resistor in series with the load. The supply side shows voltage, while the load side shows voltage drop for the load. You are showing differential voltage across the resistor in the second trace and, of course, its negative.

If, however, you are using a current probe, perhaps a clamp-on ammeter, I would question if you have it connected correctly.

Why a cathode oscilloscope cannot display current waveform directly?

A cathode oscilloscope cannot display current waveforms directly because it is designed primarily to measure voltage signals. Current must be converted into a voltage signal using a shunt resistor or current probe, as the oscilloscope measures voltage differences across its input terminals. Additionally, the oscilloscope's display represents voltage over time, so without this conversion, it cannot accurately depict the current waveform.

Can you measure current with an oscilloscope?

Oscilloscopes only measure voltage over time. Current cannot be measured with an Oscilloscope directly, but can be measured indirectly. Measure the voltage across a known load and calculate the current.

What is the difference between AC and DC in terms of oscilloscope?

One is sinusoidal through the zero point i.e. alternating current, the other would be a flat line at whatever the current value was i.e. direct current

How does the oscilloscope captures a misfiring scr?

An oscilloscope captures a misfiring silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) by displaying the voltage and current waveforms across the device. When an SCR misfires, the oscilloscope shows an unexpected change in the voltage or current pattern, indicating that the SCR has turned on or off at the wrong time. By analyzing these waveforms, technicians can identify the conditions leading to the misfire, such as improper gate triggering or voltage spikes. This visual representation helps diagnose issues in the circuit where the SCR is used.

How a Cathode Ray Oscilloscope is used to measure Alternating current?

An oscilloscope is, essentially, a voltmeter -it measures current by measuring the voltage drop caused by that current across a standard resistance.

What is the correct relationship among power current voltage?

Power is the product of current and voltage (P=IV). Voltage is the potential difference that drives current through a circuit, while current is the flow of electric charge. The relationship among power, current, and voltage is crucial in understanding and analyzing electrical circuits.

What does oscilloscope an measure?

An oscilloscope takes an electrical input signal and converts it into a visible trace on a screen - i.e. it converts electricity into light. An oscilloscope helps us to measure the voltage(maximum)....We can also find frequency from it by using a Equation.. We can use the maximum voltage in this equation i=v(maximum)sinѠt to find the current.

How is an oscilloscope different form a compressional wave?

An oscilloscope is a device that views electrical current or other oscillations on a cathode ray tube screen. A compression wave, meanwhile, is a type of wave that forms rarefaction when it moves down a channel.

Why is it important that an oscilloscope be used with an instrument before playing in a concert?

An oscilloscope is a device that measures oscillations, such as from current or voltage. For electric instruments, such as an electric guitar, this device can be important to help make sure that the instrument and its equipment are functioning properly before a concert.
