In simple terms, in HV transmission the losses are less. So when we want to transmit a large power to a larger distance it is better to go for HV Transmission, however the generation will be in LV level. So in order to transmit the power in HV we need to Step-Up. And then once on the other side of the transmission the loads are all in LV, so to use the transmitted power we have to STEP-DOWN.
I hope this answers your query
AnswerFor a given load, the higher the supply voltage, the lower the resulting load current. We have to transmit electricity at very high voltages in order to prevent enormous voltage drop along the transmission lines, to enable us to use conductors of practical sizes, and to miniminise line losses. Power station generators are limited to voltage outputs of around 30 kV, due to a physical limit to the number of armature windings that they can hold. So we must use Transformers to step up these voltages for transmission and, then, to progressively step down the transmission voltages at load centres (cities, etc.).

step up transformer
The FIRST step!
Stepping up voltage from 11kV to 400kV during transmission is primarily done to reduce energy losses over long distances. Higher voltages allow for lower current flow for the same power transfer, which minimizes resistive losses (I²R losses) in the transmission lines. Additionally, higher voltage transmission is more efficient and enables the use of thinner, lighter conductors, reducing infrastructure costs. This process is typically achieved using transformers at substations.
A step-down transformer is a reverse-wired step-up transformer. You can take a 110/220 transformer and feed 110 to step up to 220 or feed 220 to step down to 110. step down transformer is a device which reduces voltage .

Energy loss is reduced during transmission from power stations to homes by using high-voltage transmission lines that can carry electricity efficiently over long distances. Transformers are used to step up the voltage at the power station and step it down at the homes, minimizing energy loss during transmission. Additionally, regular maintenance of transmission lines and equipment helps to keep the system running efficiently.
Step-up transformers are used in the transmission of electrical energy to increase the voltage of the electricity before it is sent over long distances through power lines. This higher voltage reduces energy loss during transmission, making the process more efficient and cost-effective.
check with a transmission shop on this one, i can't remember if it is encased inside or on the outside of the transmission.
Buy a chilton's manual from the part store. They break it down, step by step
To diplomatically request someone to step down from their position, you can approach the situation by expressing concerns about their performance or the impact of their actions on the organization. It is important to communicate respectfully and offer support during the transition process.
(This is what my teacher said, I wrote this down in my notes) The answer is, Step-up Transformers are used to increase the voltage of an electric current before it is sent out over transmission lines from the electric company. Step-down transformers are used to reduce the voltage of current from high-voltage transmission lines before it enters homes and businesses. Some devices, such as televisions, contain step-up transformers that increase the voltage once again.

The voltage provided by power company are higher what your home uses so transformers step down the voltage for your house. Higher voltages in your home would cause a potential safety hazard. The higher voltages on transmission lines are used to cope with voltage drops over long distances.
Power transformers are step-up or step-down transformers used in the electricity transmission system, whereas distribution transformers are step-down transformers used in the electricity distribution system.
