AC is pretty much the standard anywhere, not just in India. For distribution of electric power, AC has a clear advantage over DC in that it can easily be transformed to higher or lower voltages, and can be generated easily (since most generators lend themselves more directly to the generation of AC).
In electricity distribution, DC plays a growing role in the past few decades because electronic circuitry can now support high-energy DC systems. These are sometimes used for very long haul electricity distribution (famously in South Africa and Russia); their advantage is that DC makes better use of the cable diameter (no skin effect).
AC is preferred in distribution due to the economy, efficiency, and reliability of transformers.
AC supplies are not given to DC gennies. A DC gen requires a mechanical prime mover.
A transformer is a device to convert high voltage AC to low voltage AC & vice-versa. It works on the principle of induction. Since induction occurs only in an AC supply, a transformer cannot work on DC.. So, it is not possible to convert DC supply to AC using transformer. You would need an inverter to convert DC to AC.
Jim use dc supply in oscillator circuits to and ac out put.
A power supply that transforms AC to DC is used to provide the proper voltage to a CPU.
The type of power supply being used (AC or DC) should match the power requirements of the device it will be supplying power to.
A DC to DC converter is basically a type of switching power supply. The switcher converts the input DC to AC. A transformer is used to convert the AC to the desired voltage. A rectifier, filter, and optional regulator is used to convert the AC back to DC.
we can convert a dc supply to an ac supply using inverters. Its a common operation which we observe in our daily lives dc can be converted to Ac using an undulator.
the universel motor can runs at both ac and dc supply.
Radios use DC power supplies to operate. If a radio is powered from a mains AC supply, a power supply circuit will convert the AC supply to DC. Therefore, a radio may have both a DC and an AC power input but ultimately, the internal circuitry will always use DC.
"Voltage peak" is generally used to denote the maximum(amplitude) of AC voltage supply. It can not be approximated as dc value. The closest approximation one can make for dc value of a ac supply is the RMS(root mean square) value of the voltage. So that the ohmic loss caused by the given AC voltage supply is equivalent to that caused by a dc supply having value equal to the RMS of this AC supply (for given impedance & time).

when the dc supply given, dc load line lies in the Ic and Vcc. when the AC supply given, AC load line lies in the Ic and Vcc.
If having DC and AC is required then a PWM pulse width modulator is required to chop the DC to make AC
because the transmission cost of ac supply is lesser than dc. thats why ac is prefered
