Then a commisioner named Kim comes, Kang (a rival potter) comes up with inlay work. Kang gets the commission, Kim comes to Min and offers a commission if Min delivers a pot to songdo with inlay work. Min says he can't because he is too old. Tree-ear offers to take it later. Min says yes. So when Tree-ear leaves he is robbed. They take his money for food and destroy the pots. He finds a shard he thinks shows Min's work. He brings it and Min gets a commission. When Tree-ear comes back, Craneman is dead. He was on the bridge and a cart came by and he backed up and landed in the freezing water. So Min and Ajima (Min's wife) take him in and he learns to make a pot. The last line in the book is "Craneman, wherever you are in your journey, I hope your traveling on two good legs".
