It doesn't mean anything - such dreams are normal. It may well have been prompted by knowing someone else who died, or knowing a friend who lost a relative recently.

Our dreams are - generally - our mind's way of filing away and memorising things that have been going through our minds in the recent past, which is why unrelated things seem to 'connect' in dreams.

At other times our dreams are more like our minds writing a fantasy novel - we can fly, or we can talk to animals, or some other equally improbable scenario. These things don't necessarily have 'interpretations' - they don't have definitive 'meanings'.

It could possibly mean that she is there watching over you in heaven. But if it is a rather evil smile and you were cruel to her as a child it could mean that she is going to haunt your sole until you die.... But, you know. what eve.

This dream represents the dreamer's fears and worries about the grandmother dying. In many cases, the first member of a young person's family to die will be a grandparent. This is the natural course of life, as the aged generation passes away and younger generations take their place. In addition to giving expression to fears, this dream is also a sort of practice or rehearsal. The subconscious mind creates a scenario allowing the dreamer to experience an event in the security of sleep before the actual event takes place.
