Iron is a 'd' block element with electronic config. 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2 3d6. Iron tends to loose the outermost 4s2 electrons to form Fe2+ and later form Fe3+ quickly to attain 3d5 config. as per rule, a half filled d orbital will be more stable i.e. Fe3+. hence iron gets oxidised to Fe3+ easily. Example is the formation of rust. But, zinc is not considered purely a d block element. it has a 3d10 config. which gives inertness

Is it iron reactive or inert?

Iron can be reactive, especially in the presence of oxygen and moisture, leading to oxidation and rust formation. However, pure iron is relatively inert in dry conditions due to the formation of a protective oxide layer on its surface.

Do helium neon and argon combine with iron?

Helium and neon do not typically react with iron under normal conditions. Argon is inert and does not chemically react with iron.

What iron is responsible for acidity?

Elemental iron is inert, neither basic nor acidic.

How do you separate aluminium from iron without a magnet?

One way would be to find a liquid that is chemically inert to both metals and has a density between that of iron and that of aluminium. In such a liquid, the aluminium would float and the iron would sink.

If you have low iron will gold jewelry cause black marks your skin?

No, gold is chemically inert and would not react with skin. Your iron status can only be confirmed accurately by a blood test.

Can iron and krypton combine?

Iron and krypton cannot chemically combine because they belong to different chemical groups. Iron is a metal, while krypton is a noble gas, which is typically inert and does not form chemical bonds with other elements.

Is rusting of a can physical or chemical process?

it is a chemical process, as rust is the chemical reaction of the oxidation of iron. rust, or iron oxide, is formed when iron reacts with oxygen in the air. this can be prevented by either already reacting the iron with something like sulphur, or by coating the iron with a thin inert layer such as oil or plastic.

Does aluminum react with iron iodide?

Yes. Aluminum will replace the iron in the iron iodide in a single replacement reaction. The chemical equation is Al(s) + FeI2(aq) --> Fe(s) + AlI3(aq).

What is the difference between inert and other than inert gas?

Inert means they don't react. Group 18, the noble gases, are inert.

What other elements are found around iron?

Most iron ores are iron oxides or iron sulfides. Iron ores are also usually hydrated (i.e. includes water of crystallization). A variety of other metal ores (e.g. copper, zinc, lead) are sometimes mixed with iron ores. In much lower concentrations, almost any element (except the inert gases) might be found.

What is another word for chemically nonreactive?

inert as in the inert gases or "noble" gases

What is the term for not chemically active?

The term is "inert." Inert substances do not react chemically with other substances.
