[I think it meaning ' your zip is not done up' - it's Shakespeare right]*
* It is a quote from Benjamin Franklin (Poor Richard's Almanack,' June 1746)
I don't get the zip is not done up explanation, but it seems fairly self-explanatory to me. The way I see it is - life is short, don't waste time.
Movie? That's no movie line (although a movie script could have quoted it). It's a quotation from Benjamin Franklin:
But dost thou love life, then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of.
The grammar of the initial phrase ("But dost thou love life") is a bit unfamiliar to most of us; it uses an old form of "you" and an inverted subjunctive construction. Here's how we would say it now:
If you love life, do not waste time, for that is the stuff that life is made of.
actually this appears in the movie Gone with the Wind . It is on the sign leading into twelve oaks where Ashley Wilkes lives .
It is from Gone With the Wind. I don't know how the first respondent could claim it isn't from a movie, when it is from one of the most classic movies of this century.life is too short, don't waste time.
Gone With the Wind
Dost is the archaic, obsolete 2nd person singular of the verb "to do."
What does "What dost thou" mean is the correct question. The previous answer given was right: it means "What do you ... ?" In olden times, "you" was the polite form and "thou" was the familiar form (today we sometimes think of them backwards from what they were) and "dost" was a form in olden times similar to the form we still use today, "does." "What dost thou intend toward my daughter?" would mean "What are your intentions toward my daughter?"
Dost is a form of the verb to do, as "I do", "Thou dost", "He does". The "thou" forms of verbs are rarely seen any more, and "thou dost" would usually be said "you do" So, 'if thou dost pronounce it faithfully' means 'if you do mean what you say'
To whom thy secret thou dost tell, To him thy freedom thou dost sell.
priya usually refers to something that is close to your heart and dost just means friend so you can put the two together and it also means weirdo

This proverb reminds us to value and appreciate our time because it is the essence of life itself. By not wasting time, we can make the most out of our lives and focus on meaningful experiences and relationships. It highlights the importance of being intentional and purposeful in how we spend our time.
