A Faustian tale is, in Layman's terms, a story or fable about individuals making deals with the devil in order to obtain something or someone that they wouldn't normally own to begin with.
A Faustian Choice is, in fact, no choice at all. For example, if I am at the top of a cliff and being pursued by spear-wielding natives, do I jump off one side of the cliff or the other? The fall is still the same, as is the result if I do not jump. Wrong! The above definition refers to Hobson's Choice. A Faustian Choice is based on Goethe's novel where Faust sells his soul to the devil for knowledge and power. The "choice" is the metaphorical bargain of giving up one's immortal soul for a mortal life of power and knowledge.
The antonym of tale is truth.
Tale has a long a sound.
A cumulative tale is when there is a variation of a repetitive tale. This is also know as a "Add and Repeat" tale. An example of this type of tale is I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.

Nuclear energy is a faustian bargain. OR A faustian pact with nuclear energy. Even if you don't agree, the idea is that 'faustian' is an adjective typically describing a deal or pact (presumably with the devil or something associated with or compared to the devil).
