How is arthoscopy performed on knee?

Arthroscopy of the knee is performed through a sophisticated procedure where a small scope is inserted into the knee joint in order to repair the damaged cartilage and other ligaments. It is also performed as a diagnostic procedure to rule out the other knee problems in the knee joint.

Can you still have knee surgery if you have your period?

Yes it sucks but you do.I even had to take a pregnancy test before surgery even though I was already on it.Your not allowed to wear any of your lady products. You have to wear one of their pads they give you no tampons and not your underwear.I had knee arthoscopy surgery a month ago while on it, not fun. =[

What about arthroscopic knee surgery on a knee that has been totally replaced?

Most surgeons will avoid to do this as an arthoscopy always carries a risk of infection, and infection in a joint with a prosthesis in it, is disaster. Besides of this, it is harder to do as the space is very thin after a TKP, and in most cases, there isn't much that can be done arthroscopical in such a knee anyway. After a TKP, you generally (but not always) no longer have any cruciate ligaments or menisci, so what are you going to perform arthroscopic surgery on? There are exceptions of course, but generally speaking, arthroscopy on a TKP is rare.

You thought you just sprained your knee so you iced and after a couple of weeks the pain went away the pain is back now why?

Go get at least an xray from the doctor. You could have done a lot to it, tore your cartilage, your ligiment, meniscus, broke your knee cap, plenty. I had knee pain after I played a game and thought hey after I ice it, it will be good. No, it got worse, and I had to get arthoscopy surgery, they do this simple small incision procedure to clean up and fix and find everything wrong with your knee while in there because some xrays/mri's dont show your problems up. Good luck! Hope your knee feels better soon.

When to start cycling after knee surgery?

I guess this would depend on the type of cycling you do, off road hilly, or on road flat, or hilly, the French Alps or Pyrenees, the fitness and recovery level of the individual, pain threshold, determination and tolerance of discomfort. Your body is going to tell you. In my case, as an enthusiast road cyclist with 60 years experience, and three cases of surgery involving knee arthoscopy behind me, the last in my late 60's, I threw the crutches away after 4 days and was back on the bike at 9 days after surgery, up here in the Perth Hills, Western Australia, with suitable gear ratios. As an encouragement to fellow cyclists, I am now 73 years, 5 days after hip surgery and determinined to be back on the bike in 14 days after surgery, to ride the French Alps in mid August, which I have been training for. When can you leave the hospital after having surgery on your knee?

If you have arthoscopy surgery you leave pretty much as soon as you wake up, unless your not feeling well and the most 2 hours. If its a open knee surgery much longer but they still dont keep you in overnight unless something serious happens.
