Even though a "study" is not a portrait, I would not call it a portrait's opposite. Opposites of "portrait" might include an action shot, a "detail" (a close-up of, say, somebody's wrist, showing their wristwatch), a landscape, a schematic/diagram (a depiction of the human circulatory system may have a person's body layed out in detail but its focus/purpose is much more scientifically utilitarian than in conveying a physical or psychologial likeness) or a scene (depicting a situation, like The Boston Tea Party) rather than a person/personality.
