Since the word has many meanings, as there are different kinds of "knowledge", and the specific definition was not given by the questioner, there are a number of answers, i.e., abbreviated knowledge is defined as "Ingorance", which is not to be confused with "Stupidity". ;-) Since a symbol can be an abbreviation, i.e., a loop with two breziers (in other words, an 8 laid sideway) is the scientific abbreviation for infinity, and E=mc*c is the physics abbreviation for, "Energy equals mass times acceleration squared", the first recorded symbol for knowledge is the apple; the fruit of the tree of knowledge good and evil; therefore, I propose that an abbreviation for "knowledge" and be the pictoral representation of an apple. This is not original, it is biblical, and is used by Apple, Inc. with the addition (or ommision) of a bite out of the apple. k is simply a letter. it is not an abbreviation for anything when it is by itself. just merely the 11th letter in the English alphabet
