A Father's Promise is about a 12-year old boy named Rudi Kaplan who lives alone with his father, Jakob Kaplan in Warsaw, Poland during World War II.
When Rudi's father discovers that the Nazis are going to take him to a concentration camp, he tells Rudi that he must escape...into the forest! He also gives Rudi a promise that if he let's him go into the forest, God will protect him.
Along the way, he meets Anna, a young woman who lives in the forest, Oscar the resistance soldier, a little girl whom he names Ingrid, and a new enemy, Josef.
On his Journey, Rudi must learn not only how to survive, but whom he can trust. He also learns to risk his life for others. But even nearly killing himself, Rudi always remembers his Father's promise.
