It takes a period of time for a collective noun to become commonly used. A noun suitable for the situation can always be used, for example:

  • an in-box of emails
  • a file of emails
  • a pile of emails

Those suggestions are based on how we actually use our emails but seem a bit dull. While researching this question, finding nothing but dead ends, the word that popped into my mind was 'a slew' (we used that one a lot in my youth, pre-email days). So, I looked up the definition of the noun slew: a violent or uncontrollable sliding movement or large number or quantity of something. Perfect: a slew of emails.
