Tauba is simple words means repentence for a sin and promising not to repeat the same evil again and to return to God. It is therefore coming into the fold of God and getting a new start of life with a clean slate for a person who inends to walk in the path of religion. It is thus a step forwar or th key to guidance that leads to the straight path and an ultimate weapon of purification of the soul for those who wish to come closer to the Al-Mighty. We are all human beings and will continue to making sins, but we must remember that our father Adam was the first to commit a sin and the first to repent.
Best regards for all those who read the brief explanation about Tauba.

From my knowledge, the correct way to show tauba is performing Salat al Tauba, which is a 2 rakat prayer. It is performed just like any other nafl prayer but has a different niyat: "Nawayatu Aan Ussalia Lillaahi Ta'ala Rakatai Salateet Tauba'aee Sunnatu Rasullahi Taala Mutaoouazihan Ila Zihatil Ka'batish Sahraifati, Allahu Akbar" As for the Magrib nafl prayers, I've been taught that these are prayed after the maghrib sunnah prayers and that they're called Salat al Awabeen, and the rakats are 6 minimum. Hope that I helped :)
The another name of Surah At-Tauba is Surah Bara`ah.
Tauba, or repentance in Islam, is accepted when it is sincere and comes from the heart. It should involve genuine remorse for past sins, a commitment to avoid those sins in the future, and a desire to seek forgiveness from Allah. Additionally, it is important to make amends if the sin involved wrongdoing to another person. The timing of tauba is also significant; it is considered acceptable as long as it is made before death or before the signs of the Day of Judgment appear.
Taubah is an essential part of religion because it is the means of asking forgiveness from Almighty Allah for all evil acts. It can also be considered as a way of showing remorse for all the evil deeds of the past.
Surah Taubah is revealed without Bismillah. This signifies the detail taken into account on compililing Quran. The Quran was complied "as is" as it was revealed to prophet Muhammad PBUH.
