If you are writing a business letter, your first heading should be in the upper right-hand corner, beginning with your name on the first line, your address on the next two lines, and after skipping one line, the date on the next line.

Then, on the left hand side, skip one more line after you have completed the section with your information, you put the recipient's name on one line and the recipient's address on the next two lines.

The same format generally works for personal letters as well.
