Aunt Jennifer's Tigers: Adrienne Riche

Aunt Jennifer weaves a panel to create tigers that express a feminist view in a male dominated society that has denied her freedom of expression, bound in fear in a chauvinistic society by matrimony and domestic ordeals that demands obedience.

A women desires the attributes of the tigers to be bright( like the yellow topaz)confident ,to live without fear of men as (denizens) born in freedom and equality in Nature.

She has been bound in matrimonial and domestic life and finds it not only difficult but also fears to express her feminist views. She finally expresses herself(in fear of matrimonial life that denies any defiance) and finds freedom in death.

The tigers(in the panel) become immortal feminist expressions and live in joy in future.
