He saw six scratches on the inside of Watson's left boot. Hence he had been out in bad weather and had a muddy boot, hence his boot needed scraping, and hence he had a carless servant who scratched his boot in six places. Get it? I hope I explained it well. Best wishes, R. N. L.
At the beginning of Act II Scene 2, Caesar tells a servant "Go bid the priests do present sacrifice, and bring me their opinions of success." You need to know that the Romans habitually killed animals or birds and had priests look at their guts to see if the gods approved of what they were planning. I know it's kind of disgusting, but it's sort of like how people check the internet to see what the weather is like before they go outside. So Caesar is sending the servant off to the temple to do in some hapless chicken and look at its insides. The servant is then to report back to Caesar.

Laius therefore makes it clear that Jocasta must kill her three-day-old infant son Oedipus. Jocasta does not want to disobey her husband, but also does not want to carry out the deed herself. She therefore asks her most trusted servant, a Theban shepherd, to leave Oedipus exposed to the ravaging weather and scrounging wildlife on the mountains outside Thebes.

That she is blasphemous, cowardly selfish and unworthy is the way in which Antigone sees Ismene's decision not to disobey the king's order in "Antigone" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Theban Princess Antigone cannot stand idly by while her brother Polyneices' body is disfigured and dismembered by weather and wildlife. She criticizes her sister Princess Ismene for being cowed by their uncle King Creon's illegal edict of non-burial of the disloyal Theban dead. She describes Ismene as disrespecting their family as well as the gods and traditions of Thebes.
