Horsefly bites are not classified as acidic or alkaline; rather, they cause a localized reaction in the body. When a horsefly bites, it injects saliva that contains anticoagulants, leading to swelling, pain, and itching. The body's immune response to this saliva can result in inflammation, but the bite itself does not have a specific pH level.

Yes, apparently they can. I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck near some horsefly bites. I went to my school's clinic and the doctor told me that the swelling was my immune system reacting to the poisons in horselfy bites. Hope shes right and that it isn't something worse! Good luck. :)
