saddle soap
No, it's a cleaner with some conditioning properties. It will not work as a resist, sorry.
I used to have my own horse and pony so i know how to clean it so ill explain it in 9 steps i will also tell you some handy hints and warnings:Head over to the nearest horse supply store and purchase a couple bars of glycerin soap (it's cheap), a soft cloth, and a sponge. The brand doesn't matter.Keep a bar right next to the place where you tack up your horse, along with a small bucket of water and a sponge.3Every time you are finished riding, dampen the sponge (with a good wring out), wipe it on the soap and give your saddle and bridle a quick once over. This way no dirt and sweat can built up, taking your show prep from an hour to 2 minutes. This also allows you to inspect your tack every time you ride, for safety issues.4Dry off the saddle with a clean towel. Get the saddle completely dry before continuing the next step always remember.5Get some saddle shine and put it on the saddle. Carefully rub it on the saddle with a clean towel ( make sure it is not one of your best towels).6To "Strip" clean:7Remove the stirrup leathers from the saddle and set them aside. Take the bridle apart, and set the pieces aside with the stirrup leathers.8Clean as above.9Dip the bit and stirrups in a bucket of room temperature water. Scrub.Do not forget to put it back together correctly.tipsSince glycerin soap is an oil based soap you will not need to oil your leather or use any fancy conditioner, as it will be conditioned every time you clean.Rinsing your bit in a water bucket every day is easier than trying to scrub off three months worth of spit and slime.Buy some handy ready cleaners from Weaver Leather to do minortouch ups before a show.Old toothbrushes are great for cleaning the small attachment crevices in your saddle and bridle. Just dip it in water, scrub some saddle soap on it and scrub with it, rinse it off, then use it or a small towel to rinse the soap off the saddle.Finding it a bit hard to make your Bit and Stirrups shine, clean? As stupid as it sounds, put them in the dishwasher and they will come out as if they are brand new, literally!WarningsNever use soap on the bit! It will taste horrible for your horse. Use a diluted solution with Listerine to clean your bit after every ride. It will disinfect and clean the bit while keeping the taste fresh for the horse.Saddles can be expensive, don't neglect it! Make sure you clean it regularly.Things You'll NeedGlycerin Soap (saddle Soap)A spongeA small bucketSaddle shineOld tooth brushes (up to you)old towel
