A saddle tree is the framework or foundation of a saddle that provides structure and support. It is typically made from wood, fiberglass, or plastic, and is covered with padding and leather to create the finished saddle. The shape and design of the saddle tree influence the fit and comfort of the saddle for both the horse and the rider.

Well, it is actually made of leather on a wood frame. The wood frame provides the overall shape.Mostly because leather is readily available wherever cattle are raised and horses are commonly use to work cattle. However the internal frame of the saddle that provides its shape is wood and metals are used both to hold the saddle together and as decoration. In special parade saddles large amounts of silver (and sometimes some gold) almost completely cover the saddle.

The solid core section of a saddle is typically made of wood or synthetic material and provides the main structure and support for the rider. It sits underneath the padding and leather covering of the saddle and helps distribute the rider's weight evenly across the saddle. The solid core section is an important component for maintaining the shape and stability of the saddle.
