This is a common problem. The seat control module is located under the front edge of the seat and it gets kicked by the passengers. That causes a little solder joint to break and then the seat doesn't work. It is easily repaired if you know how to use a soldering iron. You can remove the module by unscrewing two bolts, one on either side of the module. Once it is out you can open it up. The broken solder trace should be obvious. If you just want to move the seat back and leave it there, you can always take the module out from under the driver's seat, plug it in under the passenger seat, adjust the seat to the correct position for your wife or whoever will be riding in it the most, and then reinstall the driver's seat module back under the driver's seat. The passenger seat will still not work, but at least it will be adjusted properly. If it is partially working (i.e., it will move forward but not back) make sure whoever sits in it knows not to move it forward.
Also, when you remove the module you'll probably discover that the plastic case is broken. Jaguar issued a TSB for this, and the replacement case is only a few dollars. The part number is C2N 3565 and you can only get it at the Jag dealer. If they give you a hard time tell them to look up TSB # 419-17
