No. I have 92gsi 1.8 and the axles are about a quarter of inch larger than a old sohc that i had but you can change the inner part of spindle and every thing else will fit
On the top of the transmission where the axles go in.
Yes. Edit, yes, but if you are dealing with a swap from the SOHC to a DOHC other parts are needed like the motor mount and ECM.
Geo Storm was manufactured from 1990-1993. Two engines were available the 1600cc SOHC and the 1600cc DOHC while it is possible to switch between one style engine for the other it is rather involved. Other sources for these engines are the Isuzu Stylus for the SOHC or the DOHC or the Isuzu Impulse XS for the DOHC. The Isuzu Impulse RS was a DOHC Turbo which requires considerable modification to install.
Answer: The ignition timing on a 1990 Geo Storm is 10 degrees BTDC. This applies to both the SOHC and DOHC 1.6L engines.

Yes any Storm motor will fit in any storm, however you will also need the wiring harness from the new engine if it is not the IDENTICAL motor. You will also then need the ECM. Storm Motors Include 1.6 SOHC 12v (90-93 Base Model) 1.6 DOHC 16v (90-91 GSi) 1.8 DOHC 16v (92-93 GSi) Sources... www.isuzone.org www.stormowners.com
no the sohc and dohc manifolds are totally different.
A Chevrolet 502 if you want to do all the work that would take. Realistically, a 1.8L DOHC 16V out of the Geo Storm GSI is about the most you're gonna fit in there.
The timing marks for a 1991 Geo Storm GSI DOHC are typically located on the crankshaft pulley and the timing belt cover. The marks should align when the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke. It is important to consult the vehicle's service manual for specific instructions on locating and aligning the timing marks correctly.
depends if its a base or gsi the base would have a 1.6 sohc and the gsi would have a 1.8dohc older gsi's have the 1.6 dohc
A 1992 Geo Storm SOHC (single overhead cam) can have some interchangeable parts with the DOHC (dual overhead cam) model, particularly in areas like suspension and body components. However, the engine components are generally not interchangeable due to differences in design and performance characteristics. It's essential to verify specific parts for compatibility, as variations may exist depending on the model and trim. Always consult a service manual or expert for precise interchangeability information.
