The automatic Transmission Fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles. The transmission oil is checked under the car, pull plug to drain into pan, once drained reinsert plug and fill via fluid pump until the level bottom of the hole.

You add automatic transmission fluid to a 1989 V6 3.0 Toyota pickup truck through the filler tube in the engine compartment. This is also used to check the fluid level.
I'd suggest using a Dextron III/Mercon automatic transmission fluid.
Pull out the transmission dipstick and put the fluid in there. There are special funnels available for this purpose.
