You may feel the whole assembly wanting to separate from the car, or even see the plastic trim move a little. It doesn'[t seem to have been mean to have been folded very frequently.

For reference there is a metal bearing thing that freezes solid if the mirrors are never folded. I always fold mine when I park on the road or carparks.

How do I Replace the door mirror on a mercedes benz 1994 c-class
To create a DIY mirror door for your room, you will need a full-length mirror, a door, adhesive mirror tiles, a measuring tape, and a strong adhesive. Measure the dimensions of the door and mirror to ensure a proper fit. Apply the adhesive mirror tiles to the door in a pattern of your choice, making sure they are securely attached. Once the tiles are in place, carefully attach the full-length mirror to the door using the strong adhesive. Allow the adhesive to dry completely before hanging the mirror door in your room.
