you don't they are non-servicible transmission

You can chage the fluid all that you need is a hand pump that has about an inch hose on it. Also a very large alen key that can fit into the fill nut on the transmission ( you can also use a large bolt and shave flat sides onto it so you can use a hand clam to loosen the nut). And you need mineral oil not regular Transmission Fluid. You first remove the smaller nut on the transmission pan drain the fluid. Next you put the hose from the hand pump up inside the other nut that is also located on the transmission pan on the bottom of the car( minimal heat may need to be applied to help remove the bigger nut). You then pump the fluid into the transmission until their is about two liters in their and then you need someone to turn on the car and put it in drive but don't hit the gas while it is being filled ( if you have an all wheel drive car remember to make sure all the tires are off the ground before putting the car in drive. MAKE SURE THE CAR IS AS LEVEL AS POSSIBLE WHEN FILLING THE TRANSMISSION SO THE FLUID GETS DISPERSED EVENLY.

How do you change the transmission fluid in a 2002 VW Passat 1.8?

To change the transmission fluid on a 2002 VW Passat, you would have to take it to a dealer and have them do it, since they need a special tool, an electronic tester, to check the fluid level. The fluid cannot be too hot or too cool to get an accurate measurement since fluid expands when warmed. Ther is no ATF dipstick. The fluid level is measured electronically.

Transmisson vw 2002 passat?

You can't change the transmission fluid on any volkswagon Passat no matter what the year. I have a 2004 volkswagen passat and my friend accidently let the transmission fluid out instead of the oil , and I had to spend 311 dollars to get it all replaced. The volkswagon car dealership out here, where I live, said that they are the only ones who can change the transmission fluid on this particular model vehicle. Sorry, about that
