Punto head gasket change is quite an easy job to do. It is almost impossible to give step by step instructions on these pages. The best that I could suggest, is for you to get a Haynes manual for the Punto this will show the exact procedure to follow.

Your piston rings may be bad. Do a compression test to find out.
sorry to say the head gasket wasnt done properly the last time go back to the bloke who done it and wack him i had the same thing they are ment to skim the head after the gasket change
To change the head on a Fiat Punto, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the battery. Remove the intake and exhaust manifolds, along with any attached components like the timing belt or chain, and then unbolt the cylinder head from the engine block. Carefully lift the head off, replace the gasket, and install the new or refurbished head, torqueing the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications. Finally, reassemble all components, reconnect the battery, and check for leaks before starting the engine.
Sorry, no it is not possible. Are you sure that it is the heater? Airlocks in the radiator can cause same issues. Common fault. Cylinder head Gasket gone? Check oil for creamy substance. If present your gasket. I updated another couple of questons about same thing (in more detail). Search on Fiat Punto overheating. Good Luck.
If your gasket has blown and overheating occured then skimming will almost certainly be needed. Send it for testing and skimming better to be safe than sorry.
i asume you know your spanners so yes it is a straight forward job. and to help you on your way the torque settings are Fiat Punto Fire engine Stage 1 30Nm/22LBf ft Stage 2 59Nm/43.5LBf ft
I had a similar problem. When i took it into the garage they told me that the head gasket had gone and it was mis-firing. It was completely destroyed and i had to replace the engine, so get it seen to fast.
It is important to know the head bolt tightening sequence and the torque of a vehicle. For the Fiat Punto it is 20nm, 30nm, 90 degree turn, 90 degree turn, then in order 8,6,2,5,10,7,3,1,4,9.
If you do not see an obvious leak, then my guess would be a blown head gasket.
Fiat do not issue torque settings for a punto they use angles so that you can snap your stretch bolts! after contacting fiat and haynes neither of them would give proper torque settings, so i delved into my many tech manuals on fiat fire engines which is what is in your punto and i have successfully changed many fiat punto head gaskets using the following torque settings: stage 1 starting from the centre head bolts tighten to 33nm: stage 2:65nm and finally stage 3: 96nm these torque settings work fine and will probably save you buying new head bolts.
