To check the Transmission Fluid level , you must remove the Allen plug on the bottom of the transmission, next to the gear selector cable. On the early units, the filler plug is a rubber stopper on the very top of the transmission, which needs to be removed. On the later units, the filler plug is a 14mm hexagonal plug, which needs to be removed.
The transmission needs to be filled at a temperature between 35-40 degrees celsius, whilst the engine is running, until the fluid dribbles out of the level plug from the bottom of the transmission.
I rather suspect that your problem is a bit more than just a low fluid level.
There is an automatic transmission dipstick in the engine compartment. The dipstick will have a yellow handle. Check the transmission fluid the same way you would check the motor oil.
You probley installed the filter wrong. Remove the transmission pan and check the filter.
open the hood, it should be on ur left side close to the lights, that's how it is on my 02 anyways?
Where do you fill the transmission fluid on a 07 Hyundai elantra 5 speed
Your transmission doesn't have an 02 sensor. The o2 sensor monitors engine exhaust to control engine performance. But, dirty transmission fluid is a problem and should be changed before it cause a major and very expensive transmission failure.
On the 2002 Mitsubishis Lancer , you add the transmission fluid down the dipstick tube. There is a specific fluid for manual transmissions , that information is in the manual under Fluid Capacities.

A 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo holds approximately 10 quarts of transmission fluid. When only the fluid in the pan is changed, a total of 5 quarts of fluid is needed.

The 02 - 05 lancer's do not have a transmission filter. This is why it is recommended to replace the fluid ever 30k miles
