VW will tell you that the Transmission Fluid & fuel filter should never be changed. My Service writer @ the dealership says they should bechecked/ changed wth every tuneup. When I took my Beetle to a local garage, the mechanic changed my fuel filter and showed me how it was full of water (my car was running rough). Anyway, call a VW dealership service dept. and ask them to show you how to do this.

Why will 2004 Volkswagen beetle not go in reverse?

Either because the linkage is broken or the gear inside the transmission is broken. Have a garage check it out and see what they can find.

How do you check transmission fluid on a 2007 vw beetle?

Transmission Fluid Level Check Volkswagen Beetle (1998-2010) Our research indicates that your vehicle does not have a transmission fluid dipstick. These types of transmissions are designed to be maintenance free. In order to check the transmission fluid, your vehicle likely has check valve on the bottom of the transmission on the bottom of your car. Your car must be level when the fluid is checked and we therefore recommend having a mechanic with a hydraulic lift or underground bay check your transmission fluid.

How do you check the transmission fluid on 1998 vw beetle?

A 1998 VW Beetle does not have a dipstick that you can check the transmission fluid with. Instead, there is a fill tube with a red cap on the side of the transmission. Take the red cap off and that is how you check the levels on this type of vehicle.

How do you check the transmission fluid on a 99 volkswagen new beetle 1.8 turbo there just doesn't seem to be an easy way to do anything on this car except check the oil?

Owner's manual. Actual Answer: There is no data in the owner's manual on checking or maintaining the transmission fluid level. I have a new beetle, it's leaking, and it seems the only recourse to submit myself (and my wallet) to the VW dealer - again.
