I have a 1996 jetta trek and every time i would mess with the battery my flashers would come on. i soon foun out this was my security system. and it prevented me from starting my car. but there are a few ways to fix this 1- just put your key into the door lock and lock and unlock it a few times till it stops. 2- if that doesnt work and your car still will not start. check the fuses the security fuse is usually a blue 15 watt ATC fuse on your fuse box with mine the fuse looked fine but when i put a fuse checker on it it showed it was blown. 3- this was my strategy after doing the above two things. just go out to your nearest wal mart. and buy a new head unit. yup a new stereo will disable the security for the most part. i still have the problem with the lights flashing every once in a while but the lock unlock trick from step one fixes that pretty easy. it wont hurt your car but for some reason all the security is controlled through the factory head unit which is why you have to type in that code.
To disable the car alarm on a 1996 VW Jetta, you can try using the key to unlock the driver's door. This often deactivates the alarm system. If that doesn't work, you can disconnect the car battery for a few minutes to reset the system. Finally, if the alarm persists, consult the owner's manual or a professional mechanic for further assistance.

== == There is a website where you can purchase a seatbelt alarm silencer for only $20, and it's completely legal!! www.clickercheater.com On my MKIV Jetta, the seatbelt alarm quits sounding after about 3 minutes. The warning light also goes out at that time, too.

To disable the theft alarm in a VW Jetta, you can typically do so by using the key fob to unlock the car, which usually disarms the alarm. Additionally, if you have a factory-installed alarm system, you may find an option in the vehicle's settings through the infotainment system. For more persistent issues, consult the owner's manual or take the vehicle to a certified VW technician for assistance.
