how do i get into a trunk o f a vw bug 1972

There is no 1991 VW Rabbit.
Press on the upper half of the VW badge on the trunk (or boot for European users). This will expose the lock mechanism and open the hatch if the vehicle is already unlocked.
go through the back seat, open the trunk cover, a few screws and than pull the latch to the lock and walla you have it opened manually
The boot or the trunk is under the front hood of a 1967 VW Beetle. To open the hood, make sure the handle is unlocked, turn the handle to the right and lift.
Start the car with the trunk (hatchback) and driver's door open. The alarm will be deactivated. I don't know how to turn it back on.
To open the trunk on a 1971 VW beetle, there is a little handle in the glove compartment which must be pulled toward the passenger seat to allow you to pop the trunk open. Pull the lever and then push the button on the trunk (hood). It should open right up. If the lever in the glove box is broken, you'll have to use a pair of pliers to pull the cable that unlocks the trunk. Good Luck...
I have an 04, but the only way I know of is the switch on the driver's side door. The only other way would be the emergency release that is in the trunk.
To access the spare tire in a 1971 VW Super Beetle, first open the front trunk by releasing the latch from inside the car. Once the trunk is open, you'll see the spare tire situated on the trunk floor, secured with a metal hold-down bracket. To remove the tire, unfasten the bracket using a wrench or your hands, and then lift the tire out of the trunk area. Be cautious of any tools or equipment that may also be stored in the trunk.
The recommended spark plug gap for a 1981 VW Rabbit is .028"
Usually the key FOB has a trunk latch, but if the battery runs out or you don't have a key FOB, check next to the drivers door, next to the gas release lever, there should be a trunk release lever.
