BMW's usually always have a hidden keyhole above the license plate, not visible unless you get your head below license plate level, then look up at the little ledge above the license plate. Check it out. I have run into that situation at work plenty of times with a completely shorted battery, or someone accidently shut the trunk, with the battery disconnected, which is in the trunk.
