To reinitialize a keyless remote battery on a BMW X5, first, replace the old battery with a new one, ensuring the positive side faces the correct direction. After replacing the battery, sit in the vehicle with the new key, close all doors, and press the start/stop button without pressing the brake pedal. This should reinitialize the key. If it doesn't work, you may need to consult the owner's manual or a BMW dealer for further assistance.
I was informed by a BMW dealer there isn't a battery to replace and you have to order a new remote and then have it programmed by the dealer.
yes
Cut open the remote with xacto knife , unsolder and replace the battery.
There is no battery inside the key to replace. The key actually charges through your ignition. If its not functioning you will just have to order a programmed key from the dealership.

To replace the keyless remote battery on a BMW X3, first, locate the small slot or indentation on the side of the key fob. Use a flathead screwdriver or a coin to gently pry open the key fob casing. Once open, remove the old battery, noting its orientation, and replace it with a new CR2032 battery. Finally, snap the fob casing back together and test the remote to ensure it’s functioning properly.
