To remove the wiper cowl on a Mercedes-Benz E320, first, ensure the wipers are in the off position. Remove the plastic clips or screws securing the cowl, typically found at the base where the windshield meets the cowl. Carefully lift the cowl away, taking care not to damage any clips or surrounding components. If necessary, consult the vehicle's repair manual for specific instructions related to your model year.

I learned the hard way that when new, the part of the system that protrudes from the cowel is "sprin loaded" when brand new. Be careful when installing the new replacements. Remove the old parts from the cowel and the cables from under the dash. Carefully install the new parts in the cowel. DO NOT PUSH DOWN ON THE END OF THE PART WHERE THE WIPER ARM INSTALLS. Go under the dash and place the cableson the motor shaft and on the cowel part. When you are sure the cables are in the proper position, Go to the outside of the car and "push down on the end of the part where the wiper arm installs. At that moment, a spring will engage which will tighten the cables under the dash. This is a one time loading of the spring and if you install the cables incorrectly, the new parts become useless. That is why it is not possible to use "junk yard parts" for the wiper assembly. I went through two sets of these parts before a mechanic let me in on the "spring" secret. Joe
it should be behind the cowel on the drivers side above the master brake cylinder.
First, remove the windshield wipers. Then you can remove the cowel just in front of the windshield. There are a bunch of screws connecting it to the firewall. Once you remove this, close the hood. Now everything is easily accessible and the rest is intuitive. Replace everything by using the opposite procedure.
