no, jack up the car and as you are laying underneath it you will see a pan behind or beside the oil pan with about 10-16 small bolts in it. take those out front to back to drain transmission fluid...then remove pan. you do not need to remove any part of the car to access the transmission pan
Hi. It is located at the bottom of the oil pan near the back of the oil pan. It is mounted on an angle. It requires a 5/8" or 16 mm wrench to remove. Hope this helps.
The 2006 VW Jetta oil drain plug will be on the bottom of the oil pan. You can remove the drain plug with a 9/16 wrench.

Removal Disconnect the battery ground cable. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the dual converter Y-pipe. Remove the starter motor. Remove the engine rear plate. Drain the engine oil. Remove the 16 oil pan bolts. Remove the oil pan. Remove the oil pan gasket. CAUTION: Correct alignment of the oil pan is critical. Position the oil pan gasket. Position the oil pan and install the 16 bolts. Tighten the bolts in three stages: Stage 1: Tighten the four corner bolts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Stage 2: Tighten the remaining bolts from back to front to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Stage 3: Check all bolts for correct tightness. Install the engine rear plate. Install the starter motor. Install the dual converter Y-pipe. Lower the vehicle. Fill the engine with 5W-30 Motor Oil. Connect the battery ground cable. NOTE: The cooling fan should cycle at least one time. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Stop the engine. No, the oil pan has a plug, usually a 9/16" one, that is located on the lowest part of the oil pan. That's where you drain the oil from. There should never be a need to take off your oil pan unless you have much more serious issues than just an oil change.
The oil drain plug is located on the bottom of the oil pan. The oil drain plug will be near the front of the oil pan and can be removed with a 9/16 ratchet.
The medal pan that you took the plug out of when you drained the fluid has either 16 or 17 bolts in it. Remove those bolts and pry the pan off and you will see the filter.

run your van on a ramp or just jack it up , you have two oil pans under your van one is your oil pan which is the pan that holds your oil the same with the transmission oil pan the difference between the two is one has a drain plug the other does not the one with the plug is the engine oil the other one is the trans pan you change the oil by removing 16 to 24 bolts that hold up your trans pan with your van jacked up you need loosen all the bolts removing the back ones or until fluid starts to drain then you slowly begin to take out the bolts from the back side and start removing the bolts from back to front until you have taken all the bolts out you need to leave one bolt up front so the pan does not fall and hit you cause your pan still has oil in it brake lose your pan remove it
With engine cool, put pan or something under vehicle to catch 5-6 qts of oil. With 9/16 rachet or box end wrench, loosen plug located on left rear corner of oil pan and drain oil into pan. Next, remove filter from vehicle and let oil drain into pan. Some oil will probably miss what ever you are draining the oil into so have card board or rags to clean up any mess. next put a thin layer of grease around rubber gasket of new filter and install it til gasket makes contact and turn about 1/2 turn tighter. Replace oil pan plug. put recommended amount of new oil into motor. Start motor and check to ensure there are no leaks.
