To remove the headrest on a 2006 Cobalt LS Coupe, you typically need to press the release button located at the base of the headrest on the side facing the back of the seat. While pressing the button, firmly pull the headrest upwards to detach it from the seat. If the headrest is stuck, you may need to wiggle it slightly while pressing the release button to disengage it completely. Remember to be cautious and gentle to avoid damaging the headrest or the seat.
Hold down the small headrest adjuster release button, and then pull the headrest straight up and out.
There is a button at the bottom of the headrest where it goes into the seat press the head rest down as you press in the button and it will release it as you pull up
At the top of seat where the two rods of the headrest fit there is a button to push gently inward to adjust to your liking.
There is a button near the hazard light button to do that.
Use the controls on the side of the seat that you would use to adjust your seating position. The button that you would use to adjust the reclining angle on your seat is also the button that will adjust your headrest. Simply slide the button down and the headrest will lower.
On most cars theres a lever that you push and it can adjust hieght. But older cars no. 2012 Cruze has two types of headrest, the rear have a button release on BOTH posts in order to fully remove the headrest. The front headrest does not have a second button as it is not intended to be removed. HOWEVER ..... if you look closely at the side that does not have a button, there is a very small hole. Use a small allen wrench, slide it into the hole to release the locking mechanism. You must also hold in the button on the other side and pull up on the headrest all at the same time. The headrest will slide right out. Do not drive the vehicle with the headrest removed. I only needed to remove the headrest to install a seat cover.
Press the release button and raise the headrest as far as it will go. There's a small hole in the plastic base that does not have the release button. Straighten a paperclip and insert into the hole, pressing until you feel the release lever move. The headrest should lift out.

After lifting the headrest to the uppermost position, use a paperclip to push in on the headrest guide bracket on the side that doesn't have the push button on it. There is a tiny hole that you have to slide the paperclip in.
To remove the headrest from a 2006 Jeep Commander, first, adjust the headrest to its highest position. Locate the release button or tabs at the base of the headrest posts; you may need to press them in to disengage the headrest. While holding the buttons, pull the headrest straight up to remove it completely. If the headrest doesn't come off easily, double-check that the release mechanism is fully engaged.
