Basically the timing belt is replaced by removing the belt covers, removing any other belts that may be in the way (PAS etc.) and finally slackening/removing the tensioner. The details are more complex though and a workshop manual should be referred to as the timing belt is a critical engine component. - SD

To top up the hydraulic fluid in a VW MK 1 Golf, you need to locate the hydraulic fluid reservoir attached to the brake master cylinder. Unplug the electrical fluid sensor and Fill the reservoir to the ÒMaxÓ mark.
On a VW Golf MK5, the fuse box is located on the left side of the dashboard. It can be accessed by prying off the side cover.

To reset the service indicator on a Mk 4 VW Golf, turn the ignition key to the “on” position without starting the engine. Press the gas pedal fully three times within ten seconds. Then, turn the ignition off and back on. The service indicator should now be reset.
