To reset the key on a BMW X5, first, ensure that the vehicle is turned off. Then, insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position without starting the engine. After a few seconds, turn the key back to the "Off" position and remove it. This process can sometimes help in re-establishing the connection between the key and the vehicle. If issues persist, consult the owner's manual or contact a BMW dealership for assistance.

A 2006 BMW X5 is the first generation E53 X5.
Get into your BMW and close the door. Fasten your seat belt. Press and hold down the odometer reset button. While holding this, turn key into accessory position. Soon, reset is displayed on dash. Release Odometer reset button. Press Odometer reset once more for 3 seconds, then release. All green LED for oil change are now restored.
I am sure this is not the proper way to reset the light, but I disconnected my battery cable for ten minutes and it fixed the problem.
