Check to see if you have too much engine oil. If not you have some serious engine problems. Possibly a bad valve seal, head gasket or major engine problems.
Major engine damage like bent valves. Better replace the belt. Trash the head on a 1.8 and expect to pay $2,000
If it has never been previously done before, it probably needs a major tune-up. Regular routine maintenance on any engine will drastically reduce problems later on.
are you sure you are looking at engine oil or is it the tranny fluid(which is reddish brown but there are also synthetic motor oil that are reddish in color but DO NOT MIX regular oil w/synthetic oil make sure of what you have before adding causes major engine problems
yes they will interchange . you should have mo major problems switching them.
Honestly yes. it can cause major problems and all together it could cause your engine to blow. so id change them they arent that hard.
175,000 miles before major repairs.
You oil will get dirtier and dirtier, the filter will clog and the engine will start the wear. Eventually the engine will develop sludge and in the end the engine will not last very long. I would suspect a brand new engine that you kept driving and never changed the oil might last 50,000 miles at the outside before having major internal problems.
