This is an extremely difficult fix. If you must know, you have to remove the front bumper and radiator. It is on the left side when you are facing the car.
Remove the front fascia (bumper with lights). Remove radiator, remove timing belt cover- it is right there.

1) Remove the Torx screws just in front of the front wheels attaching the front bumper to the plastic bodywork parts. 2) Flip off the outer front grills, that house the fog lamps if you have them. 3) Lie on the floor looking up, and you'll see an 6mm Allen headed Bolton the underside of the reveals. 4) Remove. 5) Carefully tug the bumper off, trying to keep it straight and square. 6) Carefully remove the electrical connections. The thermostat is located at the front right of the engine beneath the intake manifold. You have to remove the belts (timing and aux) to get to it. It's one of the biggest jobs you can do on this motor as it is labour intensive. Audi recommend 10hours for this work as if you are removing the belts, you might as well replace them, along with associated rollers and tensioners.... A DIY job for the enthusiantic..... Oh I forgot to mention, you need to remove the front of the car, front bumper, headlamps, radiators and coolers.... ;o)
