My 2001 Mercedes Benz c320 key came apart, how do I put it back together.
two things replace the 2 batteries inside the key ( IT'S THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE A QUARTER ) you are out of range
You can open it with a key, remote, or knob by shift lever
I have a 2003 e500 i went for a swim with my key, its still working
The key comes apart from the top, you can use the blade key to push in the tab inside the key and at the same time pull the key apart
It's easy (your owners manual explains this) 1) Remove the "backup" metal key 2) Press in (from the side) on the grey plastic inside. It should move easily 3) Pull open.
opened door with key fob now car will not start. any idea how to reset?
Put your Key in the lock and turn it counterclockwise,,,, Push the button and voila.... the trunk lid opens.....
Service A on a 2001 Mercedes-Benz E320 is a scheduled maintenance service that typically includes an oil change, oil filter replacement, and a general inspection of key vehicle components such as brakes, lights, and fluid levels. It may also involve checking the air filter and tire pressure, along with resetting the maintenance reminder system. This service is essential for maintaining the vehicle's performance and longevity. Regular adherence to Service A helps ensure that the vehicle operates efficiently and safely.
To replace the ignition switch on a Mercedes E320, first ensure the vehicle is off and the key is removed. Remove the steering column cover by unscrewing the screws and gently prying it off. Disconnect the electrical connector from the old ignition switch, then unscrew and remove the switch. Install the new ignition switch by reversing the process, ensuring all connections are secure before reassembling the steering column.
Do you have the "valet key" (black FOB key with the auto-lock & 'panic' buttons are)? We had this problem with our '98 E320 and it turned out the battery in the valet key needed replacing.
