The XJ6 from 1995-1997 is referred to as the X300 and the 1998 onwards sometimes called the XJR is referred to as X308.
There are several different models of Jaguar cars called the xj6 by the manufacturer and drivers since the inception of the range in 1968. Jaguar enthusiasts tend to refer only to the Series 1,2, and 3 cars produced between 1968 and 1992 as Xj6, or XJ12 with the 12 cylinder engine fitted . The series 1, 2, and 3 XJ6 (or XJ12) has two fuel tanks fitted. The Series 1 XJ holds 12 gallons (Imperial) in each tank, a total of 24 gallons. The Series 2 and 3 XJ holds 10.5 gallons in each tank, a total of 21 gallons. Series 1 cars for the North American market hold 11 gallons in each tank, a total of 22 gallons. T

mine is a 1992 xj6 and it will have 1 screw at each end of the seat which are easy to see if you look by the foot well.remove them and that's it.

To remove a 4.2 engine from a Jaguar XJ6 Automatic Series 1, first disconnect the battery and drain the fluids. Remove the intake and exhaust manifolds, disconnect the wiring harness, and detach the radiator, cooling fans, and any other components obstructing access. Support the engine with an engine hoist, unbolt it from the transmission and engine mounts, and carefully lift the engine out of the engine bay. Make sure to label all connections for easier reassembly.

Code fuel 1 would indicate Oxygen sensor. A good information source is the Haynes Manual Jaguar XJ6 1988-94. Good luck.
firing order is 153624. with 1 closest to the FIREWALL. see also, my answer to a previous question on this site. Should be similar to a 1993 XJ6 which is: 1-5-3-6-2-4
