I work on Saab's another Swedish car. i have seen something simler, basically the security control module doesn't recognize the key. On Saab their is something called a transponder inside the key itself(inside the handle-the part you hold)its a electronic chip no battery needed. your best bet is to take it to the dealer for reprogramming. If by some chance their is a remote built into your key you might want to replace the battery first, then check your owners manual to see what they say on key fob battery replacement, you probably got to stand next to the car and push one of the buttons a few times to get it in sync with the car.
