For a 1993 VW Eurovan, it's recommended to use synthetic oil with a viscosity grade of 5W-40 or 10W-40, depending on the climate and driving conditions. Always ensure that the oil meets the necessary specifications outlined in the owner's manual, such as VW 502.00 or 505.00 standards. Regular oil changes will help maintain engine performance and longevity.
according to Bentley, it is number 21.
The base model is 2wd. They also made "synchro" models that are 4wd.

The oil filter for a 1999 VW Eurovan Camper is located on the engine, specifically on the driver's side, near the front of the vehicle. It can be accessed from underneath the vehicle, making it easier to remove and replace during an oil change. Be sure to use the appropriate tools and allow for some oil spillage when you remove the filter.

Hi, I have the 93, mine is a stick. 2.5 liter. It is hidden. Take off the underengin cover. 6 or 9 15mm bolts I believe. After this is off crawl under the car, find the oil plug, look up about 15 inchers. The filter is about the size of a can of soup. When you remove the filter, oil will drip down the back of the engine. Good Luck
Yes.

this is most likely the seal on your oil filter in the front.the oil is blown under the car and collects on the tailgate.this causes blotches of oil right up on the back window
Use 20W50 oil (Castrol makes it) in a type 1 VW.
5w30 fully syn oil.
